Call for Papers: MCSII Civil Liberty Symposium, April 18-19 2022

The Menard Center for the Study of Institutions and Innovation (MCSII) will host its third annual Civil Liberty Symposium April 18 and 19, 2022.  Paper/session proposals are invited on any topic pertaining to civil liberties or their relationship to institutions and innovation.

Topics include, but are not limited to, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, freedom of association, the right to petition, academic freedom, the right to privacy, the right to equal treatment under the law, due process, the right to life, the right to own property, and the right to defend oneself.

Authors whose proposals are selected will receive an honorarium of $1,000 for the presentation of their completed papers.  Presenters will have up to twenty-five minutes, followed by a respondent, and audience discussion.

Proposal Details

Deadline for proposal submission: Friday, January 28, 2022

Accepted authors notified by Friday, February 18, 2022

Completed paper/presentation due by Friday, March 18, 2022

  • Proposals should be no more than 500 words.
  • Applicants should attach a two-page curriculum vita.
  • Applicants with completed papers may attach their full text.
