The Center for the Study of Liberal Democracy invites undergraduate students to participate in its 2018 essay competition. Contestants are asked to write a 1,000 word essay responding to the following question:
Should the Citizenship Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution be repealed or modified to restrict more precisely the definition of who may claim citizenship?
This year’s essay reflects on the heated debate over the status of undocumented immigrants and their American-born children, especially in light of the importance of this topic during the 2016 presidential election.
Essays accepted until March 30, 2018 and should be emailed to email@example.com.
