Representative Elaine Luria, U.S. Congress: Reflections on Naval Service, Veteran’s Affairs, and Civil-Military Relations
November 9, 2021 @ 11:00 am - 12:15 pm
Please join us on Tuesday, November 11 for a virtual public conversation with Rep. Elane Luria, Vice Chair of the House Armed Services Committee. Congresswoman Luria will speak to her experiences as a career naval officer, veteran’s affairs and perspectives on how Congress interacts with the U.S. military.
Congresswoman Luria represents Virginia’s Second Congressional District. Prior to her election to Congress in 2018, she completed a distinguished career in the U.S. Navy, retiring at the rank of Commander. She is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and earned a master’s degree in engineering management from Old Dominion University. A naval pioneer, Commander Luria was one of the first women to serve at sea in the Navy’s stringently selective nuclear propulsion program.
