CENTER FOR THE STUDY OF LIBERAL DEMOCARCY TO CO-HOST BEN SHAPIRO VISIT TO UW-MADISON
The Center for the Study of Liberal Democracy is happy to co-host editor emeritus of The Daily Wire and conservative commentator Ben Shapiro on November 6, 2023. Also hosting the event are the Young America’s Foundation and the Tommy Thompson Center on Public Leadership.
The event will be held at Memorial Union in Shannon Hall at 7:00 p.m. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Due to an expected large turnout, there will be a standby line for unregistered attendees. The event will be free of charge and open to the public. Online registration is open at this link.
“There is much to be learned from this event,” said Co-Director and Professor Richard Avramenko. “Whatever one thinks of Mr. Shapiro’s positions, his visit provides the University of Wisconsin an opportunity to showcase our commitment to the principles of free speech and the First Amendment.”
Co-Director and Professor Ryan Owens agreed: “A university setting is one in which students should be exposed to a range of views. We’re happy to partner with Ben Shapiro and look forward to his presentation.”
Shapiro last visited UW-Madison in 2016. His event was disrupted multiple times by protestors.
No backpacks or signs will be allowed in the venue.
