Order & Influence Series: “Un poquito de este puro amor”: Contemplation and the Common Good

@ 6:00 pm

This third talk in the Order & Influence lecture series, “Un poquito de este puro amor”: Contemplation and the Common Good, draws its title from the writing of the 16th Century Spanish Carmelite John of the Cross, and explores the question of whether and how the tradition of monastic contemplation contributes to the good of the broader social community. Presenter Brother Isaiah of the Holy Face, OCD, is a professed member of the Carmelite community at Holy Hill in Humbertus, Wisconsin, and a former doctoral student in philosophy at St. Louis University.

The Order & Influence lecture series is sponsored by the Catholic Social & Political Thought initiative and highlights the influence of religious orders and lay associations on broader cultural and political life through an examination of the unique history and charisms of six prominent religious communities.
