BIOGRAPHY
Phillip Pinell is a Teaching Professor at Florida State University’s Institute for Governance and Civics. His research centers on the history of political thought, with a focus on national identity, historical consciousness, and civic thought. I explore a range of topics, from twentieth-century Spanish and early American political thought to contemporary questions in liberal and democratic theory. I also write more broadly on the ancient and modern traditions in political theory. Phillip graduated with his B.S. in Political Science and B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Houston in 2019, and a PhD from UW-Madison in 2025.
