The Center for the Study of Liberal Democracy invites applications for a part-time position as Assistant Director.
In cooperation with the Director, the Assistant Director is responsible for day-to-day operations of the CSLD including programming, development, strategic planning, intra-University relations, relations with Wisconsin State legislators, and relations with the national community of scholars, institutes, and foundations with similar pursuits. This position will coordinate donor relations and development as well as write grant proposals and manage fund allocation. Event programming and invitation of relevant guests will be under the purview of the Assistant Director. This position will also be responsible for overseeing visiting scholars, and post-graduate, graduate, and undergraduate fellows. The Assistant Director will report to the Director of the CSLD.
Position will initially be for one year. Position will be extended for a second year dependent upon performance, available funding and department need. After the second year, this position may become a renewable (ongoing) appointment again dependent upon performance, available funding and department need.
Position can be 50% time (20 hours/week) up to 75% time (30 hours/week) dependent on successful candidate’s availability. Schedule agreement will be made at the time of hire. Strong communication and organizational skills required, along with a bachelor’s degree or higher in humanities or social sciences. Fundraising and event coordination experience and experience with grant proposals and/or fund management strongly preferred. A PhD in political theory or public law preferred (but not required).
