Issue 44.1 of The Political Science Reviewer Now Available

Volume 44.1 of The Political Science Reviewer, a publication of the Center for the Study of Liberal Democracy, is now available. This issue features articles written for the symposium on wit in the history of political thought.

2020 Essay Competition Winners

The 2020 undergraduate essay competition is complete. This year’s essay topic was “Should Patriotism be taught at UW Madison?” From the 32 submissions, Jacob Bernstein took first place;  second place went to Nils Peterson; and third place to Lucas Olsen. Honorable mention goes to Cleo Rank and Tony Mattioli. Thank you to all scholarship recipients!

CSLD Summer Scholarships now Available

Scholarships of $1000 each are available for matriculated UW–Madison undergraduates enrolling in the summer course: Political Science 460, “Conservative Political Thought.” Richard Avramenko (CSLD Director) and Michael Promisel (CLSD Fellow) will co-teach the course.  The course will be conducted online during the UW—Madison 2020 summer term, from June 15 through July 10.  This is an …

Volume 43.1 of The Political Science Reviewer, a publication of the Center for the Study of Liberal Democracy, is now available. It includes pieces on Rousseau, Tocqueville, Machiavelli, and others, as well as “authors meet critics” sections on Yoram Hazony’s The Virtue of Nationalism and Aurelian Craiutu’s Faces of Moderation.
